The Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI) is an international, non-profit membership organization which works to develop a safer Internet by identifying and promoting best practices, tools and methods that also respect free speech. Its membership includes AOL, BT Retail, Disney, Entertainment Software Association, Facebook, Google, GSM Association, Microsoft, Motion Picture Association of America, T-Mobile, Verizon and Yahoo!.
FOSI asked Box of Blue to undertake the creation of a major new service: its Global Resource & Information Directory, GRID. The portal provides information on online safety initiatives, digital literacy and ICT projects for every single country in the world, enabling academics, governments and industry to learn from examples of best practice.
"The size of this project is immense" comments Box of Blue MD, Mike Aston. "Given that nobody had undertaken a project of this scale and breadth before we have worked very closely with FOSI UK and FOSI US on every aspect to ensure the system works exactly as needed for its global audience and GRID staff."
As the project expands, Box of Blue continues to work with FOSI on designing new features for GRID as well as supporting GRID's infrastructure and staff members.
GRID was launched globally on 8th February 2011, having already attracted the attention of industry, government and professionals in the fields of online safety, criminology and child protection. Box of Blue is proud to be associated with such an important initiative - and a world first!
